Global Handwashing Day: Events around the world supported by Toilets For All
October 15 is Global Handwashing Day, a day dedicated to raise awareness about handwashing through creative ways. This year´s theme: “Clean hands for all” focuses on the importance of handwashing equity. Read more about Toilets For All activities on this day here.
A new innovation to complement the Mosan Solution: POVU POA handwashing stations
Toilets for All provided two POVU POA handwashing stations to Mosan, an international social enterprise offering circular off-grid dry sanitation services for densely populated settlements. POVU POA has been developed over the last few years to make the most efficient use of scarce water and soap. One filling of water of the 20 liters bucket last for more than 100 handwashes.
WASH vs. COVID-19 Innovator Fund: a new partnership between Cewas, Toilets for All and Aqua for All
In the midst of the Covid-19 global pandemic, the WASH vs. COVID-19 Innovator Fund aims to support young entrepreneurs in the field of water, sanitation, hygiene and waste resource management across the Middle East. Cewas and its partners, Toilets for All and Aqua for All, offer micro grants to entrepreneurs who provide innovative solutions to address environmental and health crises. Toilets for All is funding a project carried out by SOLVillion in a public school in Amman, Jordan.
Retrofitting pit latrines and installing handwashing facilities in a local school in Korogocho, Nairobi
Toilets For All is funding a project between Mobile Alert Toilets (MAT) and Ryeeda CBO school in the Korogocho slum in Nairobi, Kenya. MAT is a social business which improves and renovates overflowing pit latrines in the urban slums of Kenya by retrofitting them with containers and sensors. Additionally, MAT also provided Ryeeda CBO school with two handwashing facilities donated by MSR Global Health. You can find further visuals of the project here: pictures and videos.
BASEflow and Toilets for All are improving Groundwater in Malawi
Toilets for All is collaborating with the Malawian organization, BASEflow, to help integrate sanitation into their groundwater field work. BASEflow’s work focuses on improving the sustainability of groundwater in rural Malawi. Here you can find details of the latrines installed.
